Board of Directors

The GBFHT's Board of Directors is composed of 7 Family Physicians elected by their peers from the Georgian Bay Family Health Organization.  These 7 physicians represent their call-groups from the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital, and are elected for a two to three year term.  The intention of this time frame is to allow fresh input into the operation of the GBFHT on a regular basis, although it is possible for a physician to be a Director for two consecutive terms.

There are also three non-voting Board Members who provide valuable insight into organizations the FHT work with on a regular basis:

Ms. Linda Davis, President and CEO, Collingwood General and Marine Hospital

Ms. Michelle Hunter, Program/ DCO Manager, Rural Ontario Medical Program (ROMP)

Ms. Karen Taillefer, Sr. Director of Client Services, North Simcoe Muskoka Community Care Access Centre

The Board of Directors meets in person four times annually to discuss and decide the GBFHT's position on issues such as:

• Which programs to develop or discontinue
• Projects such as the ePrescribing Demonstration Project
• Final approval on issues that affect the whole of the GBFHT such as the Personal Health Information Protection Act.

The Board also provides regular input on timely issues through telephone and email exchanges.

The Board has been instrumental in providing guidance and support to the Executive Director, and ensuring that the vision of the GBFHT has held true to its original business plan while adapting to the needs and requirements of the GBFHT employees, physicians, and the patients cared for in the Georgian Bay region.
