Smoking CessationSmoking Cessation

We started our Smoking Cessation program in 2009 and since its inception have helped over 200 patients. Our program is a mix of group and individual sessions, with the mix being determined based on the needs of the patient.

Brief description of program:

Interested in quitting smoking?  We offer both individual or group sessions to help guide you through the quit process.  Over the course of our program, we will explore the following topics:

  • personalized assessment of current health status;
  • what products or medications are available and how to effectively use them (myth busting);
  • identifying your triggers and how to avoid them;
  • attitude and its link with quitting smoking;
  • what withdrawal symptoms may you expect and how to cope with them;
  • relapse prevention;
  • the impact of nutrition and physical activity during your quit process;
  • the latest information on various programs and/or products; and,
  • putting it all together to create a personalized quit plan that works for you!

Group sessions run on a weekly basis over an 8 week period.

Individual programs are scheduled during regular working hours and usually consist of 5 sessions (evening appointments are available by request).

Most appointments are scheduled with the Program's Registered Nurse (RN), however, a Nurse Practitioner oversees the program and is available for consultation by request from either the RN or the patient.

To access our program, you require a referral from your Family Physician or Nurse Practitioner.
